Emily Rubin, author of Stalina, will host “Remains of the Stain”, writings about dribbles, spills and other moments of lust and panic.  Ten writers read short shorts inspired by memorable stains. Hear how a lipstick stain inspired a novel, and more.

Producer/Host Emily Rubin’s debut novel, Stalina, was published in 2011. She is a recipient of the Sara Verdone Writers Award, a Pushcart Prize nominee and has been producing Dirty Laundry: Loads of Prose since 2005.

10 Lisa Ferber is a prolific writer, visual artist, and performer, whose work has been shown at La Mama, the National Arts Club, KGB and various other venerable NYC establishments.

Suzanne Wasserman is an historian and award-winning filmmaker. She is the Director of the Gotham Center for New York City History at the City University of New York, Graduate Center.

Sung J. Woo’s first novel, Everything Asian (2009), won the APALA Literature Award in the Young Adults category. He’s written for the New York Times, McSweeney’s, and Hyphen.

Caroline Hannah Eve Dworin was born in London and moved to the United States at thirteen years old. She earned her M.A. in arts and culture from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. For several years, she wrote for The City section of the New York Times. (She published a single cartoon in the New Yorker.)

kate lacroix is a concert critic for the denver post and the denver egotist. her lifestyle blog, the sweet bird, is read in over 50 countries. she is currently working on a book entitled, “how to shop, get laid and take long naps.”

Poet, novelist, and playwright R. Zamora Linmark was born in Manila, educated in Honolulu, and has lived in Madrid and Tokyo.. In 2011, he will publish Leche, the long-awaited sequel to Rolling The R’s and Drive By Vigils, a poetry collection. He currently resides in Honolulu and Manila.

Susan Shapiro, a Manhattan writing teacher, is author of the books Overexposed, Speed Shrinking, Lighting Up, Five Men Who Broke My Heart, and the upcoming Unhooked.

Leah Umansky is a New Yorker by birth, a teacher by choice, and an anglophile at heart. She is a contributing writer for both BOMB Magazine’s BOMBLOG and for The Rumpus. Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in: Cream City Review, Barrow Street, BOMB Magazine’s BOMBLOG feature: “Word Choice.”

Steven Van Patten, author of Brookswaters Curse Vols. I and II is a Brooklyn native, raised in Fort Greene. After graduating from Long Island University he pursued a career in television production. After paying his dues as a production assistant Steven went on to stage manage a plethora of TV shows, including MTV’s Total Request Live and BET Tonight w/ Ed Gordon.

Lina Zeldovich a bilingual writer and poet, grew up on the classics of Russian literature and started writing at age five. Shw is the author of three mystery novels, short stories and a poetry chapbook. Belly dancing is her second passion.

Before John Gorman’s stories made it into print he snapped the Eyesore of the Week for the Queens Ledger. His work has appeared inMississippi Review, RiverSedge, Writer’s Digest, Monkeybicycle, Boston Literary Review, The Rose & Thorn, and elsewhere. His debut novel Shades of Luz has been called a modern day Don Quixote and his follow-up Disposable Heroes will be out in time for NaNoWrimo’s kickoff in November. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Pacific University.
