You Deserve Nothing is the debut publication from Europa’s new imprint, Tonga Books. It was acquired and edited by Alice Sebold. Lit Crawl is the first stop (and his only NY appearance) on Alexander’s national tour. Alexander Maksik is the recipient of a Truman Capote Fellowship and a Teaching/Writing fellowship from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. He’s presently the Provost’s Postgraduate Writing Fellow at the University of Iowa. You Deserve Nothing is his first novel. He lives in Paris and Iowa City.

Tonga Books is an imprint of Europa Editions. Characterized by strong narrative voice and story, and solid, well-written prose, each work of fiction published by Tonga is selected by a prominent contemporary writer. The first titles in this new series have been chosen and edited by the author Alice Sebold. Tonga is unafraid of darker material, uninterested in cleverness for the sake of cleverness, and passionate about depth of character.
